Healthier Teeth In 2021

I know that we are all living a bit differently now.  For me, I am doing up to 10 Zoom calls a day and you had better believe people are looking at my face constantly.  It is started to bring about a whole new thought for me about my health.  Keeping my teeth white and safe has now become a whole priority. For me, a lot of my life was focused on my looks but now in some cases, my job depends on it.  You can take that as you will but surprisingly my dental health came to mind.  Especially, with all the masks being worn I realized that my dental health was more important than I was letting it be.  I now know that my teeth are not up to par with what they should be. That is why I want to go over how I am working on making my dental health better and keeping my looks up.

I am not a dental wizard.  In fact my normal day is not better than the average person.  I think that is most important so you know where I am actually coming from.  My genes have given me pretty decent teeth.  I have not had a single cavity in all of my years and in all reality I don't eat or drink a lot of soda or pop.  But I do eat out and brush once a day. I wish I did more, but I am what I am. My average day consists of me brushing at night for sure, and maybe twice a week I will brush during the morning if I know I have an early meeting.  Otherwise, I drink so much coffee that my breath is pretty bad anyway.  Also, I drink a few cups of coffee a day.  That means that even though my teeth are pretty good, they are not super white.

But with how things are I think it is wise for my career and daily life to have healthy teeth.  Now I generally work from home most days unless it's an emergency.  This means I am home a lot and don't go out that much.  But health has been on the mind and so has my teeth.  The first thing to change was my amount of brushing.  I knew I needed to do the recommended 2 brushes a day but since I was going to be home I wanted to do 3.  So breakfast, lunch, and at night become brushing times.  It was hard to start, but I knew my breath and teeth needed to be in tip-top shape because it was part of my life now.

In order to stay ahead of the whitening craze, I ended up getting charcoal toothpaste to up my brightness levels.  This meant I could do a natural whitening while keeping my teeth healthy.  I have never liked tooth strips because they caused me so much pain and sensitivity.  But charcoal has actually been doing a good job of brightening my smile and it has not caused me any extra pain.  I could not have asked for more.  Just be careful because it does splatter black charcoal and that stuff can stain. Be aware of this before you spit it all over and make sure to clean up as soon as it hits the sink.
